1. Using MakerShelf
MakerShelf is a marketplace for digital products from independent creators. By using its services, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not submit an application, list products, or make purchases. You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a contract to sell or purchase through MakerShelf. If you act for a business, you must have authority to do so.
For assistance, complaints, or questions, contact [email protected]. Our Privacy Policy explains the information involved in using the website.
2. Listings and product information
Listings are for digital files or digital access, not physical goods, unless expressly stated otherwise. Rendered and AI-generated previews are illustrations, not proof of a tested physical product. A sample or concept listing does not guarantee that the depicted files or functionality are available.
Before offering a product for sale, its creator must accurately describe the included files, formats, compatibility requirements, license, delivery method, and relevant limitations. Printable 3D models must disclose relevant dimensions, assembly requirements, known printing limitations, and safety information. Creators must not claim testing, certification, compatibility, or ownership they cannot substantiate.
If the product, seller, total price, license, or delivery information is missing or inconsistent, contact us before proceeding with payment.
3. Purchases, payments, and delivery
Each purchase relates to the selected product. Before you confirm, the checkout must identify the seller and disclose the total payable amount, currency, applicable taxes, and additional charges. Review any currency conversion or provider fees shown on the payment page.
Payments are processed by the available external providers under their own terms. A redirect or confirmation screen alone is not evidence of a completed payment. Delivery depends on successful payment confirmation and the method and timing disclosed for that product. Do not purchase a concept listing without a confirmed deliverable.
Keep your transaction reference and purchase details. If you are charged but do not receive the promised product, contact us promptly. Do not send full card numbers, card security codes, or passwords by email.
4. Product licenses and ownership
Creators retain their intellectual property unless a separate agreement expressly transfers it. Purchasing a product grants only the rights set out in its applicable license; it does not transfer copyright. Commercial use, redistribution, sublicensing, resale of files, and sales of physical prints are permitted only where the license allows them.
Do not share or distribute purchased files outside the license, remove rights notices, or claim another person's work as your own. If a license is missing or unclear, request clarification before buying.
5. Refunds and consumer rights
If a product is not delivered, is materially different from its description, is corrupted, or does not provide promised functionality, email [email protected] with the transaction reference and a description of the problem. We will review the complaint and coordinate a resolution, which may include correction, replacement, or a refund as required by applicable law.
There is no blanket “no refunds” rule that overrides legal rights. Applicable cancellation and withdrawal rights remain in place. Where law permits a withdrawal right for digital content to end after supply begins, any required express consent, acknowledgment, and confirmation must be obtained separately before supply. Accepting these terms alone is not that consent.
Payment-provider dispute procedures may also apply. Nothing here prevents you from exercising statutory rights or raising a legitimate payment dispute.
6. Creator applications and responsibilities
Submitting a request to join sends your application for review. Receipt does not mean approval, publication, or a promise of sales. We aim to respond within 24 hours; further information or review may be needed. Seller fees, payout arrangements, and additional seller terms must be disclosed and agreed before selling is enabled.
Creators must own their work or hold the rights and permissions needed to distribute it. This includes third-party assets, trademarks, fonts, likenesses, and material used with AI tools. AI generation does not remove intellectual property, privacy, licensing, or safety responsibilities. Do not include confidential information or prohibited material in an application.
7. Prohibited products and content
You must not list, sell, upload, advertise, request, or link to the following through MakerShelf. These rules cover files, previews, descriptions, profiles, applications, and communications. Some categories are unlawful; others are prohibited by MakerShelf policy even where local law might permit them.
- Child sexual abuse or exploitation: sexual material involving minors, including generated or manipulated depictions, grooming material, or content facilitating exploitation.
- Sexual exploitation and explicit adult products: non-consensual intimate imagery, sexual deepfakes of real people without consent, trafficking or sexual services, pornography, and products primarily intended as sexually explicit content.
- Piracy and infringement: stolen or unlawfully copied models, fonts, artwork, books, software, or license keys; counterfeit products; and assets distributed without the required rights or permissions.
- Malware and unauthorized access: ransomware, credential-stealing tools, phishing kits, stolen access credentials, and products or services intended to compromise systems or bypass access controls unlawfully. Legitimate defensive security education is not prohibited solely because it discusses security.
- Weapons and dangerous manufacturing: functional firearms, ammunition, explosives, and digital blueprints or printable files designed to manufacture or modify them or their functional components. Harmless non-functional decorative props are not automatically prohibited, but must not enable weapon manufacture or be marketed as functional weapons.
- Violence, hate, and targeted abuse: threats, incitement to violence, terrorist recruitment or operational support, targeted harassment, and material promoting hatred or violence against people based on protected characteristics. Contextual reporting, historical discussion, and criticism are not automatically prohibited.
- Privacy violations: doxxing, stolen personal information, private records, or datasets distributed without a lawful basis or required permissions.
- Fraud and deception: forged identity documents or certificates, fake receipts, counterfeit credentials, impersonation kits, scams, fake reviews, and products intended to deceive buyers or evade legal obligations.
- Controlled or unlawful goods and services: illegal drugs, controlled substances sold without authorization, trafficking, stolen goods, and services or materials specifically intended to facilitate criminal activity.
- Financial and gambling products outside our scope: cash-equivalent instruments, money-transfer services, investment schemes, betting or gambling services, and products promising guaranteed financial returns.
- Other unlawful or restricted transactions: products that violate applicable law, sanctions, export controls, or the requirements of the payment provider used.
Legitimate artistic, educational, or scientific work is not prohibited merely because it addresses a sensitive subject. Context, intended use, legality, and the risk of harm matter. An educational label cannot be used to disguise a prohibited product.
8. Reporting and enforcement
Report suspected prohibited content or infringement to [email protected]. Include the page URL, an explanation, relevant supporting information, and contact details. For intellectual property reports, identify the protected work and your authority to act. Do not attach illegal sexual material or unnecessary personal data.
We may reject applications, restrict or remove listings, or suspend access where reasonably necessary to investigate violations, comply with law, or protect users. Where appropriate and legally permitted, we will explain the action and allow the affected person to respond. You may request reconsideration by email with relevant evidence. Records may be preserved or disclosed in response to valid legal obligations.
9. Security, availability, and liability
Do not disrupt the website, circumvent security controls, misuse payment interfaces, submit misleading information, or impersonate another person. Features may change or be interrupted for maintenance, security, or development.
Uninterrupted availability and suitability for every purpose cannot be guaranteed. Any limitations apply only to the extent permitted by law. These terms do not exclude mandatory consumer protections, liability for fraud, or other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
10. Updates and contact
These terms may change as the service or applicable requirements change. The date above identifies the current version. Material changes will be communicated through the website or another appropriate channel. Changes do not retrospectively remove rights relating to an existing purchase.
